Payment Gateways in the UAE Compared (2026 Guide)

If you have already worked out how to choose a payment gateway in principle, the next question is practical: which providers actually operate in the UAE, and what is each one good at? This is a shortlist of the gateways we integrate most often, compared on the things that decide the outcome, not on headline rates.

One thing to be clear about upfront: we are the technical integration partner, not the payment processor. We do not set fees, hold your funds, or act as your acquirer. The rates and settlement terms below are set by each provider, so we have deliberately left specific pricing out. What we can tell you is how these gateways behave once they are wired into a real business, because that is the part we are called in to build and support.

The UAE gateway shortlist at a glance

Every provider here can take a card payment. Where they differ is local acquiring, regional card coverage, how much development an integration needs, and the kind of business they fit best. Use this as a starting map, then pressure-test the two or three that look closest against your own model.

Gateway Best suited to Regional strength Integration effort
Network International (N-Genius) Established UAE merchants wanting a bank-grade local acquirer Direct UAE and regional acquiring at scale Moderate, hosted or API
Checkout.com Scaling and cross-border businesses that want one platform Strong MENA presence plus global reach Higher, developer-led API
Amazon Payment Services Regional e-commerce across the Gulf and wider MENA Broad local card and Mada support across markets Moderate, hosted or API
Stripe SaaS, subscriptions and internationally facing products Global coverage, now live for UAE businesses Lower for developers, excellent tooling
Telr UAE SMEs wanting quick onboarding and multi-currency UAE focused with GCC coverage Lower, hosted friendly
PayTabs SMEs across the Gulf wanting fast setup and invoicing UAE and Saudi roots, regional cards Lower, hosted friendly
Tap Payments Businesses selling across several GCC countries Strong Gulf coverage including local rails Moderate, hosted or API
noon payments Merchants already in the noon ecosystem UAE and regional Moderate

The rest of this article walks through each one in plain terms, with a link to the provider so you can check current details and pricing yourself.

Network International and N-Genius

Network International is one of the largest payment acquirers in the Middle East, and its N-Genius gateway is a common choice for established UAE merchants who want their acquiring and their gateway from the same bank-grade provider. If your priority is direct local acquiring at scale, settlement into a UAE bank, and a name your finance team already trusts, it belongs on the shortlist. Integration can be hosted or API based, and the reconciliation work is straightforward once the webhooks are handled properly. Details at network.ae.

Checkout.com

Checkout.com is a global processor with deep roots in the region and a strong developer-first API. It suits businesses that are scaling, sell across borders, or want a single platform that handles many payment methods and currencies through one integration. The trade-off is that getting the most from it is a development-led exercise, so it rewards teams that will use the API properly rather than just drop in a hosted page. See checkout.com.

Amazon Payment Services

Amazon Payment Services, formerly PayFort, is built for regional e-commerce across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and neighbouring markets. Its strength is broad local card coverage, including regional schemes, which helps conversion when a meaningful share of your customers pay with local cards. It is a solid fit for online retailers selling across more than one Gulf market. More at paymentservices.amazon.com.

Stripe

Stripe is known for the best developer experience in the industry, and it is now live for UAE businesses. If you run a SaaS product, bill on subscriptions, or sell to an international audience, Stripe’s tooling, documentation and recurring-billing features are hard to beat. For a UAE business whose customers are mostly local and card-present, weigh it against providers with stronger regional acquiring. For product and platform builders, it is often the fastest route to a clean integration. See stripe.com.

Telr

Telr is a UAE-based gateway that positions itself around quick onboarding, multi-currency support and social commerce, which makes it popular with small and growing UAE merchants. If you want to be taking payments quickly without a heavy development project, a hosted Telr integration is a practical starting point. More at telr.com.

PayTabs

PayTabs has UAE and Saudi roots and focuses on SMEs that want fast setup, regional card support, and extras like payment links and invoicing. Like Telr, it is a comfortable fit when payments are important but not the entire business, and you want to launch without a large build. See paytabs.com.

Tap Payments

Tap Payments has strong coverage across the Gulf, including local payment rails in several GCC markets. If you sell into more than one Gulf country and want a single provider that handles the regional card landscape well, Tap is worth comparing closely against Amazon Payment Services and Network International. More at tap.company.

noon payments

noon payments is the gateway arm connected to the noon ecosystem. It is most relevant if you already sell within that ecosystem or want a UAE-based provider with regional reach. As with the others, confirm current capabilities and terms directly. See noonpayments.com.

Card schemes and wallets sit on top of all of them

Whichever gateway you pick, the cards and wallets your customers actually use matter just as much. Visa, Mastercard and American Express are near universal, but regional and domestic schemes change conversion for local shoppers: Mada in Saudi Arabia, the UAE’s Jaywan, Meeza in Egypt, and UnionPay for visitors from China. Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay lift checkout completion on mobile. Buy-now-pay-later options such as Tabby and Tamara can raise average order value. When you compare gateways, check which of these your audience relies on, and confirm the provider supports them.

How to turn this list into a decision

The comparison above narrows the field, but the choice still comes down to your own business. Run the same short process every time:

  1. Confirm how your customers pay, who they are, where the payment has to land, and your average order value.
  2. Shortlist two or three providers from the table whose regional strength and integration effort match your situation.
  3. Ask each for total landed cost and settlement time, then compare on those, not the headline rate.
  4. Decide hosted checkout or full API based on how central payments are to your business.
  5. For each finalist, get concrete answers on webhooks, retries, refunds and reconciliation before you commit.

That last point is where projects quietly succeed or fail. A payment is not finished when the customer sees a success screen. It is finished when your accounting and your ERP agree it happened. Getting that right is the core of solid payment gateway integration, and it is the same regardless of which provider you choose.

Where we fit

We integrate and support every gateway on this list. We help you pick the right fit for how you actually sell, build the integration into your website, portal or ERP, and make sure the money that comes in reconciles against your books. Because we are provider-neutral, we are not steering you toward one processor’s commercials. We care that the integration is clean, the webhooks are reliable, and month-end adds up.

Common questions

Which is the best payment gateway in the UAE?

There is no single best gateway. Network International suits established merchants wanting bank-grade local acquiring, Checkout.com and Stripe suit developer-led and cross-border businesses, Amazon Payment Services and Tap Payments suit regional Gulf e-commerce, and Telr and PayTabs suit SMEs wanting fast setup. Match the provider to how you sell rather than to a ranking.

Do you set the fees or process the payments?

No. We are the technical integration partner, not the payment processor or acquirer. Each gateway sets its own rates and settlement terms and holds the funds. We build and support the integration so payments flow into your systems and reconcile correctly.

Can I switch gateways later?

Yes, and a clean integration makes it far easier. When the payment logic and reconciliation are built properly, swapping or adding a provider is a contained project rather than a rebuild. Building with that flexibility in mind from the start saves a lot of pain later.

Which gateway supports local cards like Mada and Jaywan?

Regional providers such as Amazon Payment Services and Tap Payments, along with Network International, tend to have the strongest domestic and regional card coverage. If a meaningful share of your customers pay with local schemes, confirm support directly with the provider before you commit.
