Mainland or free zone changes how Odoo is set up.
This is the part generic ERP advice skips. A Dubai mainland company licensed with the DED and a free zone company in DMCC, JAFZA, DAFZA, IFZA or Dubai South do not have the same reporting shape, and setting Odoo up as though they do causes problems later.
Mainland, licensed with the DED
Standard UAE VAT treatment, local invoicing, and usually a straightforward single-entity chart of accounts. The work here is mostly about matching your operation, not the licence.
Free zone entities
Designated zone rules affect how some supplies are treated for VAT, and many groups run a free zone trading entity alongside a mainland one. Odoo handles that properly with multi-company, but only if it is configured that way at the start. Retrofitting a second entity into a single-company setup is expensive.
Groups running both
If you invoice from a mainland entity and hold stock in a free zone, you want consolidated reporting without the two sets of books bleeding into each other. That is a design decision we make in the first week, not something to discover at your first audit.

When Odoo is not the right answer.
Odoo is not always the move, and we would rather say so before you spend money. If you need one narrow function and nothing else, a focused tool will beat an ERP on both cost and speed. If your processes are genuinely unusual, a custom build can be cheaper over five years than fighting a platform.

Do you work with free zone companies as well as mainland?
Yes. We set up Odoo for DED licensed mainland companies and for free zone entities in DMCC, JAFZA, DAFZA, IFZA and Dubai South. The difference matters, because designated zone rules affect how some supplies are treated for VAT, and groups often run a mainland and a free zone entity together under one system using multi-company.
How long does an Odoo implementation in Dubai take?
A focused implementation covering sales, inventory and accounting usually runs six to ten weeks. Projects with manufacturing, several companies or a heavy data migration take longer. You get a written scope and a date before you commit, not an hourly estimate that drifts.
Are you a certified Odoo partner?
No. Odoo runs its own partner programme and we are not part of it, so we claim no partner tier and no certification. We are an independent implementer, which also means there is no licence quota behind our advice about which Odoo edition you actually need.
Can you come to our office in Dubai?
Yes. We are based in Dubai, so workshops, training and go live support happen at your office rather than over a call. Most teams pick it up faster around a table than on a screen share.
Will our Odoo be ready for UAE e-invoicing?
We set your invoicing up in the structured, consistent way the FTA mandate expects, so switching it on later is a small step rather than a project. To be clear, we are not an Accredited Service Provider ourselves, because accreditation is granted by the Ministry of Finance. We work with accredited providers and can put one in place for you, and we handle your system and your data on either side of it.
Can you move us off Tally, QuickBooks or Zoho?
Yes. We bring across customers, suppliers, stock and opening balances, and we reconcile them against your old system before go live so you can prove the numbers match rather than hoping they do.
