Tailoring ERP case study: a UAE tailor replaces the whiteboard

Case study. The client is kept anonymous, and the figures below are representative of the engagement rather than exact published metrics.

A tailoring business in the UAE ran its shop the way most tailors do: measurements on paper slips, a production board on the wall, and invoicing kept separate from the accounts. It worked until it got busy. We built them Tailorline (formerly Tailorline) on Odoo, and the whole shop now works from one connected system, from the first fitting to the final payment.

To put it in context: this is a tailoring house with a team of around a dozen across cutting, stitching, finishing and the front desk, holding stored measurement profiles for several hundred repeat customers.

Before and after, at a glance

What matters Before After Tailorline
Repeat order setup A fresh measuring session, around 20 minutes Recalled from the stored profile in seconds
Production status A whiteboard, visible only in the shop Live on every order, from anywhere
Invoicing A separate book, reconciled by hand Tied to the accounts, no month-end squaring
“Where is this order?” Ask around the shop One record, one answer

The situation

This is a tailoring house that takes custom orders, cuts and stitches its own garments, and handles fittings and delivery. Each of those steps lived in a different place. A customer’s measurements were on a slip that had to be found again on the next order. The state of production lived on a whiteboard. Invoices were raised on the side and reconciled later. None of it was broken, but all of it depended on people remembering.

What was slowing them down

  • Measurement slips that had to be found, or taken again, on a repeat order
  • A whiteboard production board that only the shop could see, and only while standing in front of it
  • Invoicing kept apart from the accounts, so the numbers had to be squared up by hand
  • No quick way to answer “where is this order” without asking around

What we built

We built Tailorline, shaped around how a tailoring shop actually operates. Because it runs on Odoo, the orders, invoicing and payments sit in the same system as the books.

  • A full measurement profile for every customer, stored and ready on the next order, so nobody re-measures from scratch
  • Every order, garment, fabric and style option in one place, from the first fitting to delivery
  • Live production tracking, so anyone can see what is cut, stitched, at finishing or ready
  • Quotes, invoices and payments in one flow, connected to accounting so the numbers agree

What changed

  • Measurements are recalled per customer, so a repeat order starts in seconds rather than with a fresh 20-minute measuring session
  • The production stage of every order is visible without walking to a whiteboard
  • Invoicing is tied to the books, so there is no separate reconciliation at the end of the month
  • Nothing gets lost between the fitting, the floor and the front desk, because it is all one record

Why it worked

Most tailoring software is a standalone point of sale that does not talk to the accounts. Building on Odoo meant the shop got a real ERP instead: measurements, production and payments in one system that can grow later with inventory or purchasing. The shop replaced a wall of sticky notes with one screen the whole team works from.

If you run a tailoring business and your orders live across slips, a whiteboard and a separate invoice book, this is the kind of system that brings them together. See Tailorline or book a demo. We reply the same day.
